Grave Mania: Pandemic Pandemonium Review

Out of the crypt and into your computer comes Grave Mania: Pandemic Pandemonium, a new time management game that is sure to have you clicking furiously as you attempt to survive the zombie apocalypse by taking care of the undead! Zombies flock to your services as you try to satisfy their needs for soaking, feeding, bone-setting, washing, and much more. Can you help Bonnie and Johnny put the undead to rest and track down where this infected zombie-creating cake came from in the first place? Find out in this exciting addition to the Grave Mania series.

After my last foray into the world of virtual fishcare in Fishdom 3, I decided I needed a drastic change... something with a bit more intense gameplay and a more exciting story. So, when I saw Grave Mania: Pandemic Pandemonium, I knew I couldn't resist jumping into this zombie infested time management game even if I'd never played the original Grave Mania game.

Title

In Grave Mania: Pandemic Pandemonium, you find yourself once again playing the role of the young couple (Bonnie and Johnny) who run a very successful funeral home, thanks to the previous zombie outbreak in the first game.

Now that the zombie situation is under control, they are ready to take the money and go on a well deserved vacation.

However, it doesn't take long for them to discover that someone has spread the zombie outbreak overseas with more of this... infected cake?? Where did this zombie-creating cake come from?

Bonnie and Johnny are determined to find out as they roll up their sleeves and get to work ridding the world of zombies in this extremely fun and challenging time management game.

Puppets

The graphics of the game were fun and playful. In the cutscenes, Bonnie and Johnny, as well as other characters in the game, were portrayed as zombie finger puppets acting out the scene and moving the story forward. I thought these playful animations were extremely cute and creative, making it easy to see Grave Mania: Pandemic Pandemonium as a fun, tongue-in-cheek adventure rather than a true horror story.

To play Grave Mania: Pandemic Pandemonium, you need to satisfy the unconscious zombies' needs by dragging them to various stations such as the soaking station or the feeding station until they are finally ready to be placed in their coffins and shipped out to the graveyard. There are also special occurrences where Bonnie can’t help a zombie on her own, and you will need to play small mini-games to align bones, brush teeth, feed, clean debris off, etc. before shooting them back into their graves.

Gameplay

There’s a catch though... you have to be super fast because the zombies can wake up and walk right out of the door if you leave them alone for too long. The stars above their heads will let you know how close a zombie is to regaining consciousness. Less stars means it's waking up. If this happens, you need to knock the zombies back out and care for them before they can wake up and start roaming around again.

At the end of each stage, you will unlock a bonus level where you need to help Johnny perform various zombie-related tasks. Sometimes it was burying zombies and shoving them back into their graves, other times you needed to shoot zombies from their parachutes before they could land on your ship. Either way, you’re keeping the zombies at bay until sunrise.

Store

Your zombie-catering equipment, and Bonnie herself, can be added and upgraded in the store; or you can build a butler from body parts you find during gameplay. The butlers will help you activate different machines to save Bonnie some running around time as you frantically rush to get zombies settled quietly in their coffins.

I have to say, I instantly fell in love with Grave Mania: Pandemic Pandemonium, since I enjoy a bit of strategy. I actually got upset when the trial period was over, and I couldn't wait to play the full version.

But be warned... this game is very addicting, and you'll easily lose hours playing it. Grave Mania: Pandemic Pandemonium was an extremely fun play if you love time management games. It's even better if you're a zombie fanatic. So, for all of you hoping to survive a real zombie apocalypse, might I recommend sticking as close as you can to Bonnie, because, when it comes to zombie know-how, she's one heck of an expert.
