Hocus

TBD Review

Mysteries abound in the new game, The Island - Castaway 2. You return to the original island sometime in the past. According to the developer, you will discover how the island came to the condition in which you found it in the first Castaway. While playing as Yati, a native teen who is undergoing the rituals to manhood, you start to have strange dreams. Are they predicting a future to come? I guess you just have to play and see.

As with the original, The Island - Castaway 2 is a nice, relaxing game. You are sent on quests and have to solve mysteries, but the pace is a bit slower than most of the games I usually play. This is a great change of pace! The island itself is beautiful and similar to the original island with a few differences. It will be interesting to find out exactly what happened to change the island. Some of the island is exactly the same, but the ruins from the first game are intact and gorgeous. We will discover why the original village was abandoned, how the sanctuary went into ruin, and why exactly there is a ship in the middle of the island. After an hour of gameplay, I am already intrigued by the characters and their stories. I want to keep going and see what is hidden under the clouds and find out how Yati's dreams play out. Gameplay with Castaway 2 is exactly the same as the original as far as I can tell. Many of the landmarks remain. According to the developer there are over 300 quests and 60 trophies to earn. There are new food items and the old standards. I've seen some different animals, but have already been chased by the boars a few times too many! Sometimes it is very reassuring to be able to just ease into a sequel (prequel) just like slipping on your shoes. This game is just very familiar after having played the first one and that is a good thing, since the first one was great as far as I was concerned. Give The Island - Castaway 2 a try, and if you like it seriously consider playing the first game before this one. I am also hearing there is another sequel in the works!
