Tennis in the Face Review

Tennis in the Face is a bizarre tap, pull, and shoot game that displays a twisted, yet humorous, storyline. Step into a strangely addicting gameplay that will have you slamming tennis balls at clowns, riot police, and trendy hipsters.

I don't even know what to say... I just finished playing Tennis in the Face, and I admit it's left me a little flustered.

This game is weird to say the least.

Title

Tennis in the Face, hold it... what's up with that name? It's not like you're throwing tennis in people's faces... you're hitting tennis balls in people's faces... but then, I suppose they wanted to avoid that whole balls in faces title... oh, to be a fly on the wall during that brainstorming session.

Oh, and in case you haven't figured it out yet... you might want to save this game for the adults. Although, I'm going to bet most of the humor would go right over little heads.

Anyhow, where to begin... our hero of the game... Pete Pagassi... (lol, I had a chuckle over the combination of Pete Sampras and Andre Agassi's names... pretty funny... in a cheap laugh kind of way... not that I'm above cheap laughs...) is a washed up tennis player who gets addicted to a drink called Explodz.

He was admitted to the "ex-celebrity rehab center" where he was forced to clean up his act. Now, he's made it his mission to educate the community on the evils of Explodz by... you guessed it... Tennis in the Face...err... hitting people with tennis balls.

Tennis in the Face (I can't help it, I giggle every time I say that name), tries to emulate the Angry Birds style of gameplay. You click the screen, pull back, and then let the balls fly, taking out your opponents whoever they may be.

Clowns

The first level has you hitting clowns, which I have to say, brought an immense amount of satisfaction since I truly hate clowns. I think they are creepy and smacking them with tennis balls was a lot of fun.

Police

The next level was the riot police... and that made me feel just a little uncomfortable... really? We're taking out police... not really my kind of thing and definitely not a great message... the hipsters that come after that though brought me back around...

Board

As the levels progressed, you had more obstacles and items to hit that helped you beat the level. Sometimes it was bombs, extra balls, or these little eye things that broke the glass when you hit them. You had to learn to study the environment in order to get a great score, trying different angles and hoping to hit all your opponents with one ball.

Overall, Tennis in the Face was... well... it was weird... and for that, it's probably worth a download just to experience it for yourself.

If you're a fan of Angry Birds, and don't mind the humor, you'll probably enjoy this game. As for me, well... it was addicting for a bit, but it's not the kind of game I can play for more than a few levels at a time.
