The Microbie Story Review

This past week Anne and I went down to the San Benito County Fairgrounds to the annual Bolado Park rodeo. The ranch is a great place to live but it’s always nice to get out and see some new faces. We had a family reunion BBQ at the fairgrounds with all the steak, beans, and cowboy hats you could want. Getting out of the parking lot, however, that was a challenge. Much like a logic puzzle... [shameless transition] This week I did a test drive of The Microbie Story, a love child of Othello and Checkers. I really enjoyed playing this game. It's something unique in the casual game space right now. The graphics are top-notch and smooth. I love all the extra ways you can mess with your opponents. Hidden land mines, portals, you name it. This would be awesome to have in Othello! Finally maybe I could beat Anne at something. This game would also be great for kids to introduce them to basic logic. Set the gameplay to difficult and as an adult you'll be more than challenged. My only request would be to make the game a little more non-linear. I prefer games where you don’t have to play straight through the levels. If you're curious about the gameplay, check out the videos below.
